Oct 07, 2010 (newstodate): Turkish involvement in Latvia's aviation business is ever-increasing.
The latest advance is seen in the non-aviation commercial activities in Latvia's Riga Airport, where the Turkish company TAV emerged as the preferred bidder in the tender comprising the operations of the commercial areas including Duty-Free, Food and Beverage, Lounges, Exchange Offices, and other activities.
TAV will take over these activities from January 1, 2011, under a 10-year contract.
As earlier reported, TAV will also, together with airBaltic, build the new passenger terminal currently in the planning stage at Riga Airport.
Besides, TAV is also a partner, together with Baltic Aviation Systems, in the Latvian ground handling company North Hub Services that aims at establishing itself at all major airports in the Baltic region.
