Oct 11, 2010 (newstodate): Bulgaria is to open a tender in November for construction of a new ATC tower at Sofia Airport.
Following the conclusion of the tender and contracts signed, the building process is to be completed within 18 months.
The project is part of Bulgarian air traffic services authority's investment program to upgrade the country's air traffic infrastructure between 2010 and 2014.
Comprised by the investment program is the acquisition of advanced radars and navigation equipment, and introduction of a control system for the airfield at the Sofia Airport.
In 2009, Sofia Airport generated 3.1 mio passengers and 15,093 tonnes of cargo, and saw 31,071 aircraft movements
