Oct 01, 2010 (newstodate): Development of infrastructure of Macedonia's Skopje Alexander the Great Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport is progressing as planned and may even be completed ahead of schedule.
On March 1, 2010, the Turkish operator TAV belatedly took over the responsibility for running and developing Macedonia's airports under a 20-year management contract won through a tender process in 2008.
Included in the projects is the extension by 500m of the existing 2,450m runway at Skopje Alexander the Great Airport, and expansion of the passenger terminal as well a construction of a new VIP sector at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport.
Further down the list, but not started yet, waits the construction of the New Cargo Airport in Shtip also comprised by the contract between Macedonia and TAV.
