Oct 14, 2010 (newstodate): SAS has announced the re-opening of important long-haul routes from Scandinavia from the coming winter schedule.
The carrier will start operating the route Copenhagen-Shanghai that was last served from March 28, 2004, till its suspension in April, 2007.
SAS will offer five weekly rotations with Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
Next to come is the re-opening of direct daily flights from Oslo, Norway, to New York from the end of March, 2011, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The carrier last suspended operations on this route in March, 2004.
The expansion of the long-haul route net requires the addition of one Airbus A340-300 into commercial service, bringing the carrier's long-haul aircraft fleet to 11.
