Oct 19, 2010 (newstodate): Effective from November, Russia's airspace will be divided into three categories in accordance with ICAO regulations.
The three classes A, C and G are defined on the basis of flight altitudes and to each category specific requirements pertain.
Class A airspace is defined for flights above 8,100 m controlled by ATC dispatchers and reserved for commercial, business and governmental flights.
Class C airspace is dedicated to flights at altitudes up to 8,100 m and divided into instrument and visual flights, both under control by ATC dispatchers.
Class G airspace is dedicated to flights at altitudes varying from one region to another and without ATC dispatchers' authorization, while still required to provide details on routing and other information. These flights will also still be provided with pertinent MET and airnav route information.
