Oct 01, 2010 (newstodate): Singapore Airlines Cargo is returning India as an online destination for its customers in the Nordic region.
Effective from November 1, 2010, the carrier will offer one weekly freighter flight from Copenhagen to Chennai, formerly named Madras.
This brings the total number of Singapore Airlines Cargo freighter operations at Copenhagen Airport to five.
-I am convinced that the Nordic markets will respond favorably to this news as Chennai was earlier a very attractive destination when we last operated this service during a period from May 2006, says Kim Irmov, Singapore Airlines Cargo regional manager Nordic and Baltic region.
-The service was stopped at Copenhagen in line with corporate decisions to concentrate all India-bound freighter flights at Brussels and Amsterdam, from where we now have some 20 weekly departures for India.
-The opportunity for a suitable slot-time arose, however, so I am happy to be able to re-introduce this destination to our markets in the Nordic region.
-With this latest addition we have cargo space available seven days a week. Mondays will see the new freighter service, on Tuesdays we have 25 tonnes capacity on the Singapore Airlines passenger aircraft, on Wednesdays a freighter, on Thursdays a passenger flight, on Fridays a freighter service, on Saturdays both a freighter and a passenger flight, and on Sundays a freighter.
-This finely-tuned network grants maximum flexibility which is what the market really demands, says Mr Irmov.
