Oct 22, 2010 (newstodate): The Lithuanian logistics company Hoptrans is seeing great success with its weekly freighter flight from Shanghai to Kaunas Airport, in Lithuania, and own road feeder services from Kaunas to final points of destination in the EU.
-Since the first flight on September 21, 2010, with Polet Airlines' IL-96-400T offering 80 tonnes of cargo capacity, we have seen full loads of cargo, and our service has met with enthusiastic support in our markets that are primarily the Baltic region, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Germany, says Martynas Smitas, Hoptrans Logistic General Manager.
-We are now negotiating successor to the contract, expiring by the end of ths year, with Polet Airlines, and we expect this process to be concluded by mid-November, and if everything falls into place we will be looking forward to announcing further expansions of services for next year.
-Among issues under consideration is adding ex-Kaunas exports from EU countries on the return flight, which would further enhance the profitability of the freighter operation, says Mr Smitas.
Beside this service, Hoptrans is also active at Kaunas Airport with a steady flow of ex-China exports destined for Russia, transferred at the airport unto road feeder services by Hoptrans.
