Oct 05, 2010 (newstodate): In an effort to rein in costs, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport is slimming its organizational structure.
Effective from October 1, 2010, a new Department of Administration has been set up, taking over the functions of the former Human Resources Department, the Department of Legal Affairs and Vindication, the Department of Public Procurement, the Department of Communications and the Department of Document Management.
Other departments have undergone changes as well, and the airport now has only five departments - Department of Aviation Security, Department of Infrastructure, Department of Finances, Department of Commerce and Department of Administration.
The staff will also be reduced as non-core activities have been, or will be, outsourced to external providers.
Vilnius Airport estimates the savings from the changed structure of the enterprise, optimized number of employees, reduced management costs and increased labor efficiency will accrue to some 4.35 mio euro in 2011.
