Oct 01, 2010 (newstodat4): Today marks the 15th anniversary of the Latvian national airline airBaltic's first flight on October 1, 1995.
Starting out with only two aircraft in 1995, the carrier has gown to be today the region's largest carrier, expected to close this year with over three million passengers, 34 aircraft serving 80 destinations in Europe, Middle East, and Russia/CIS from its home base at North Hub Riga.
While the carrier's network has grown from five routes in 1995 to almost 100 today, the airline has also changed its business concept from a businessman's airline from the start, over a point-to-point air travel provider by 2002, to now focusing on connection flights for passengers transiting at North Hub Riga between destinations in Europe, Middle East and the CIS.
