Oct 27, 2010 (newstodate): Cooperation between two northernmost region in Norway and Russia, respectively, is growing - but air transportation remains a bottle-neck.
This was again emphasized as representatives from Troms in Norway and Murmansk in Russia met last month.
Since August, 2009, the Russian carrier Nordavia, formerly Aeroflot-Nord, has served the route between Tromso and Murmansk with two weekly rotations as an extension of the route from Arkhangelsk to Murmansk.
The Norwegian carrier Wideroe has earlier served the route, but Nordavia is today alone on the route.
The delegates from the two sides agreed that two weekly rotations fall much below the actual demand for air transportation.
