Oct 22, 2010 (newstodate): Chinese companies are reportedly considering the Baltic markets for future operations and investments in the aviation industry.
It is known that a representative from Hainan Airlines has met with the management and the now-defunct carrier Star1 Airlines to evaluate prospects for investing into a revival of the airline that would provide access to the EU market.
Baltic media are also quoting the airport manager of Estonia's Tallinn Airport for interest from one or two Asian, probably Chinese carrier to launch services at Tallinn Airport, and reports also claim that Chinese capital may be finding its way into the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
So far, little solid fact has been produced to substantiate these latter claims.
