Oct 13, 2010 (newstodte): Aeroflot may be considering splitting off its cargo activities in a separate subsidiary - again.
At the recent aviation conference in Moscow, Wings of Russia, the plan was revealed and may become part of the new strategy for Aeroflot, to be confirmed at a board meeting in November 2010.
Aeroflot may then consider adding IL-96-400T freighters to its fleet of two MD-11F aircraft currently operated.
As readers of newstodate will remember, Aeroflot's former cargo subsidiary Aeroflot-Cargo was liquidated and the cargo activities re-integrated into Aeroflot in February 2010 after a rather brief period of existence since its establishment early in 2006.
Aeroflot-Cargo was also to take delivery of six IL-96-400T freighters from 2008, but later canceled its order.
