Jan 13, 2010 (newstodate): TAV has at long last announced March 2, 2010 as the start-up date for the long-overdue projects covered by its 20-year contract for concession and operation of Skopje Alexander the Great Airport, Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, and the construction of the New Cargo Airport in Shtip, won in the tender with the Macedonian state in September, 2008.
TAV has repeatedly delayed the date citing lack of final approvals of EU grants to co-finance the projects.
While work will thus soon start on the two existing airports, the project for a new cargo airport at Shtip will probably still be delayed for another few years, sources say.
