Jan 25, 2010 (newstodate): The Swedish carrier Skyways Express has now reportedly scrapped all plans for a build-up of traffic at Lithuania's Vilnius Airport.
Skyways opened flights with a Fokker 50 aircraft from Vilnius to Stockholm Arlanda and to Copenhagen Airport from June, 2009, but soon pulled out from the route to Copenhagen and retained the Stockholm-route only.
As late as November, 2009, the airline's CEO, Peter Browall told newstodate that plans remained for a future expansion in the Lithuanian market, but after the airline was sold by its former owner, the Salen Group, to the airline's CEO, for the price of one Swedish Krone, the plans were obviously revised.
Up till then, visions were to expand with routes from Vilnius to Amsterdam and Berlin as well as other future European destinations.
