Jan 25, 2010 (newstodate): The sustained delay in deliveries of the Superjet 100 aircraft is harassing the planning of Aeroflot's domestic services.
The first aircraft should have been delivered from the start of this year, but the entire delivery scheme has been shelved due to continued problems with the aircraft's engines.
Aeroflot has therefore been forced to revise frequencies on a number of domestic routes, and has also found it necessary to reinstate the TU-154M, otherwise withdrawn from service from the start of this year, into service again on one domestic route.
Originally slated for first delivery by the end of 2008, and later delayed till autumn, 2009, the first Superjet 100 was last expected for delivery by December, 2009, but deliveries plans were then suspended indefinitely, and no new delivery date has yet been announced.
Aeroflot placed an initial firm order for 30 Superjet regional aircraft plus 20 options, and has later ordered a further 15 units for delivery from 2011, still holding 15 options.
