Jan 05, 2010 (newstodate): Slovenia's Ljubljana Brnik Airport will be closed for operations during April 7 to 21, 2010.
The airport will perform the third and main stage of the on-going runway renovation project after the renovation of the east and west part of the runway was completed during summer 2009.
The runway reconstruction work includes the renovation of asphalt surfaces across the entire breadth of the 3,300 m runway over a length of approximately 3,000 m, renovation of asphalt surfaces on part of the taxiways, replacement of the lighting system with cable connections, and installation of additional cable trenches.
During renovation, most of the traffic will be directed to Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport, which is also where Adria Airways will move its operations, which account for approximately 75 percent of all passenger traffic at Brnik, while other airlines including Turkish Airlines and JAT are still to decided on their plans.
