Jan 20, 2010 (newstodate): Slovenia has put its Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport on a tender for 30-year long term lease.
Close to the country's second-largest city, Maribor in the north-east of Slovenia, Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport is also the country's second-largest airport with a 2,500 m runway certified to CAT I status.
Slovenia is currently renovating and building a new passenger terminal at the airport, slated for opening in spring 2011 and offering the capacity to handle some 500,000 passengers a year.
Also in the current plans is acquisition of new ground handling equipment and re-development of existing infrastructure including hangars, garages and cargo terminals.
