Jan 20, 2010 (newstodate): Russia has now permanently stopped its strengthened customs inspection of trucks crossing the border from Latvia.
The harsh procedures were temporarily halted from December 31, 2009, but are now removed provided truck operators observe the customs payment demands at the border and no future infringements occur.
In December, 2009, Russia introduced enforced measures on the borders to secure correct registration and customs clearance of goods by Latvian carriers after several incidents and repeated warnings.
