Jan 27, 2010 (newstodate): The future of Austrian Airlines in Russia remains unsettled, but at least the airline has now been permitted to continue its flights to Russian destinations till the end of the current winter schedule.
Negotiations between Russian and Austrian officials starting in February will then decide on what will happen from the start of this year's summer schedules.
Russia has questioned the identity of Austrian airlines after its take-over by the German carrier Lufthansa.
So far Austrian Airlines' summer schedule that takes effect from April 1, 2010, comprises 44 weekly flights to destinations including Moscow, St Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don.
One Russian destination is however to close down: Austrian Airlines will perform its last flight from Vienna to Yekaterinburg on March 26, 2010, citing low demand in market as the reason.
The carrier operated three weekly flights on the route since 2006.
