Jan 07, 2010 (newstodate): The Polish carrier LOT is back in Kaliningrad after a prolonged pause.
Since November 16, 2009, the carrier repeatedly asked the Russian authorities for permits to re-open the route from Warsaw to Kaliningrad, and finally won the rights by the turn of the year.
LOT is now operating a daily flight between the two destinations as it did earlier from 2002 till 2008, when the service was suspended after the strong competition from the now-defunct Russian carrier Avia that went bankrupt in September 2009.
