Jan 11, 2010 (newstodate): 2009 proved a year of decrease in Norway's Oslo Gardermoen's air cargo volumes.
The total volumes were down by 15 percent, y-o-y, to 77,761 tonnes, including 46,245 tonnes of international cargo, 19.3 percent, and 31,516 tonnes of domestic cargo, down 7.8 percent.
December was also the only month in 2009 to end up with a positive growth at 5.6 percent, y-o-y, to 6,821 tonnes.
The positive result in volumes in December were partly due to the usual Christmas demand, but also to the launch of the new twice-weekly freighter service, Sundt Atlanta Skybridge that took off on its first flight on December 2, 2009, on the route from Oslo to New York and Miami, returning to Oslo via Amsterdam.
