Jan 06, 2010 (newstodate): The projected new carrier, FEEL Air planning to introduce low-cost flights from Stockholm Arlanda and Oslo Gardermoen to Bangkok and New York from 2010 is on track - but increasing competition has not made the process easier..
-We are on track with preparations to start operations as planned, but we are now more reluctant to provide further information before we finally open up for bookings, says Kai Holmberg, FEEL Air CEO.
-Since we first announced our plans in autumn, 2009, the situation has developed further with other carrier entering or planning to enter the low-price long-haul traffic from Scandinavia, so we prefer to keep cards rather close to the body at this stage. Suffice it to say that everything is progressing as planned and on schedule.
-We are currently receiving applications for cockpit and cabin crew positions, and while we have already received some 1,200 applications we are still open for more professionals to apply before we finalize the process, says Mr Holmberg.
FEEL Air has earlier announced plans to lease first two, later two more long-haul aircraft.
The business concept will build on experience from Ryanair as to managing of cost and quality, lean on the business model of AirAsiaX, and on Virgin's staff and branding philosophy.
The airline will be legally established under Norwegian registration, but the commercial base will comprise all three Scandinavian markets.
