Jan 05, 2010 (newstodate): The new Handling company at Latvia's Riga Airport, NHS has now launched operations, bringing competition to the market.
North Hub Services was set up in August 2009 by Baltijas Aviacijas Sistemas that is also behind the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
The service provider opens up with launch customers airBaltic, Flight Consulting Group, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, and Belavia.
The new company with some 100 staff and managed by Janis Balkens as CEO, will provide services including representation, administration, supervision and full passenger departure and arrival services, ramp supervision, load control, and deicing at Riga International Airport.
So far, all airlines operating at Riga Airport have been served by the airport's own handling company.
