Jan 18, 2010 (newstodate): Establishing a cargo village remains a vision at Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
Before the airport was hit, like anyone else, by the current down-turn in the global air cargo industry, visions were to set up a Cargo Village, scheduled to be completed within the period from 2008 to 2013.
Two plots of land were issued in 2008 for the first and second phases of construction, and about 30,000 sq m warehouse space and office complexes will be built.
Also included in the plans was the construction of a dedicated freighter aircraft ramp.
-Development of the airport's air cargo infrastructure remains of paramount priority by Eastline group. The Cargo Village project is indeed still being developed at the moment, but the global financial crisis caused respective constrains has led to a delay of its implementation, says Marina Motornaya, Moscow Domodedovo Airport PR Officer.
