Jan 08, 2010 (newstodate): The Hungarian low-cost carrier WIZZ Air is set to grow further in 2010 after a spectacular performance in 2009.
The airline carried 7.8 million passengers in 2009, up 33 percent y-o-y.
In the course of 2009 the company opened a new base in Prague adding up to a total of eleven bases in Central and Eastern Europe, took delivery of seven additional new aircraft bringing the fleet to 27 Airbus A320, and launched 40 new routes, resulting in a network of 147 destinations.
Among the markets with promising potentials, Wizz Air handled 76 percent more passengers from and to Bulgaria in 2009 compared to last year, now operating flights to 22 destinations.
WIZZ Air plans to add new flights from Sofia to Paris, Frankfurt Hahn, Bologna and Madrid from May, 2010.
