Jan 28, 2010 (newstodate): The demands from the UEFA EURO 2012 is driving airport development in Ukraine to unprecedented heights.
The ongoing projects aim at bringing the hourly passenger handling capacity of the country's four main airport at Kiev, Donetsk, Lviv and Kharkiv to a joint total of 13,700.
Projects at Kiev Boryspil Airport comprise the reconstruction of two platforms at the existing B terminal, construction of new terminals D and F, and construction of new parking lots.
At Donetsk International Airport, the projects include construction of a new 4,000 m runway to replace the existing 2,484 m runway, construction of new platforms and reconstruction of existing platforms, construction of a new ATC tower, reconstruction of the existing terminal, construction of a new terminal facility and a temporary terminal.
At Lviv International Airport, the projects comprise the extension of the existing 2,510 m runway by a further 700 m, platforms, the existing terminal, construction of a new terminal facility and a temporary terminal.
At Kharkiv International Airport, the projects include reconstruction of the 2,200 m runway, platforms, the existing terminal, construction of a new terminal and reconstruction of the airport land-side area, as well as construction of a temporary terminal.
