Jan 18, 2010 (newstodate): With currently two weekly Boeing 747-400 freighter flights at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Korean Air Cargo is seeing great success in the market.
-As our flights are mid-week and weekend departures they meet the requirements by the Swedish forwarders, and we are seeing full flights, says Carina Palmgren, Korean Air Cargo sales manager Sweden and Finland.
-Our services are also attractive in the Finnish market that contributes around one-third of our export loads. With a finely-tuned Asian network Finnair Cargo is of course a close competitor to us, but Finnair operates Airbus A330/340 passenger aircraft with belly cargo capacity only, while we are alone in offering wide-body main-deck capacity. This compensates for our off-line status in Finland, where we offer easy and efficient RFS to and from Stockholm Arlanda.
-We would of course always be happy to offer also a third weekly freighter flight from Stockholm, provided we could obtain a weekday that would complement our existing service. If that was not the case we would rather prefer the current set-up which is also easily supplemented by RFS to and from Copenhagen Airport, says Mrs Palmgren.
Until August 24, 2006, the carrier served the Swedish market through its hub at Copenhagen Airport, but then moved two of its earlier five weekly Boeing 747-400F flights from Copenhagen to Stockholm.
