Jan 13, 2010 (newstodate): Danish manufacturer of de-icing equipment, Vestergaard has landed a new order from Greenland Contractors, the Base Maintenance Contractor at Thule Air Base.
The order comprises the acquisition of a new Elephant Sigma aircraft de-icer, manufactured by the company.
With its unique terrain-going capability and featuring also a Forced Air system for swift removal of snow, the Elephant Sigma was found to be the right choice for the rough arctic conditions at the base.
The Elephant Sigma de-icer was introduced in 2009 for airport operations in Estonia and Norway and from 2010 also in Japan, and in Greenland as part of Greenland Contractors' GSE fleet in Thule.
