Sep 03, 2009 (newstodate): Uzbekistan's Navoi Airport is seeing good results from the cooperation between Uzbekistan Airlines and Korean Air/Korean Air Cargo.
The airport is now handling some 30 flights per week, and transfer of shipments between the two Airbus A300-600F and Korean Air Cargo's Boeing 747-400F aircraft is now performed routinely.
The establishing of the planned Navoi Logistics Center and Navoi Free Trade Zone will further spur the growth of traffic, as will also the completion of construction of a new air cargo terminal.
The Airport and its logistics center will also benefit from the customs-free transfer of goods to and from 12 CIS states, including Russia.
Uzbekistan Airlines is now operating the Airbus freighters on routes between Navoi and Delhi, Mumbai and Bangkok, and plans are to expand the route network shortly.
