Sep 03, 2009 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines has taken possession of its first new Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The second of a batch of four aircraft ordered will be delivered this September, and two more new Boeing 737-800 aircraft are scheduled for delivery in early 2010 as a part of the carrier's long term program of fleet renewal and expansion.
To save on fuel consumption and secure greener flights, both these new Boeing 737-800 and all future aircraft in the fleet will come with winglets that will also be retro-fitted on the remaining Boeing 737-500 and -300 aircraft during this coming winter.
Ukraine International Airlines currently operates a total of 18 Boeing 737 aircraft.
