Sep 11, 2009 (newstodate): The already growing air communication between Korea and Uzbekistan is to get a further boost by Asiana Airlines.
As the first South Korean airline to serve the route between Seoul Incheon Airport and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, since April 1997 - initially with two weekly flights, Asiana Airlines will up frequency to five weekly rotations from this month, using Airbus A330 aircraft on the route.
From September 2, 2008, Korean Air added Uzbekistan to its network of destinations, operating between Seoul and Tashkent with three weekly flights, using Boeing 777-200 aircraft on the route.
Korean Air has since build up a close relationship with Uzbekistan Airlines in the cargo business, leasing two Airbus A330-600F aircraft to the carrier as part of the plans to build up Navoi, Uzbekistan, as a new Central Asian Cargo Hub under a JV between the two carriers.
