Sep 01, 2009 (newstodate): Slovakia's low-cost carrier SkyEurope has filed for bankruptcy.
After being forced away from Vienna Airport due to an increasing debts pile, the carrier was also banned from the Czech Republic's Prague Ruzyne Airport for the same reason - unpaid airport charges.
On April 10, 2006, SkyEurope launched its Czech operations with 40 Boeing 737-700 flights per week on routes to Amsterdam, Milan, Barcelona, Naples, Nice, Paris and Rome from Prague - the carrier's 5th operational base.
SkyEurope has been seeking a new investor to rescue the airline - but obviously to no avail.
