Sep 04, 2009 (newstodate): The demise of Slovakia's once dominating low-cost carrier SkyEurope has left the country's airports with a serious problem.
At Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport and Kosice International Airport, SkyEurope's passengers accounted for more than one-third of total passenger volumes, and both airports are now intensely monitoring the market to find airlines that may step in to fill the void in traffic to a number of important destinations.
In 2008 Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport has a total of 2.2 mio passengers, while passenger volumes at Kosice International Airport were close to 600,000.
