Sep 22, 2009 (newstodate): The SAS Group has named a cargo GSSA to provide cargo sales for the Group's airlines in the Spanish market.
Effective from September 1, 2009, Market Air has assumed responsibility to market cargo capacity to freight forwarders in Spain for SAS, Spanair and Blue 1.
The SAS Group airlines operate more than 50 flights a day from Spain serving destinations in the Canary and Balearic Islands, mainland Spain, Europe, the United Sates and Far East.
Spanair alone operates 30 flights a day from Madrid and a further 20 flights from Barcelona. The airline also has flights from La Coru�a, Alicante, Lanzarote, Bilbao, Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Las Palmas, Mahon, Malaga, Oviedo, Palma de Mallorca, Santa Cruz de la Palma, Sevilla, Tenerife, Valencia and Vigo.
In addition, SAS has daily services from Madrid and Barcelona to Copenhagen and Stockholm, and Blue 1 provides seasonal flights from Helsinki to Spanish destinations including Barcelona.
Market Air, a wholly-owned member of the European Cargo Services group of GSSAs, expects to generate a wide range of cargo commodities for the airlines, including textiles, garments and temperature-sensitive and perishable cargoes such as pharmaceuticals, fish, meat and fruit.
