Sep 19, 2009 (newstodate): The new Russian LCC Avianova has decided to implement Lufthansa Systems' Flight Management System database.
The two parties have recently signed a five-year contract to this effect, which further bolsters Lufthansa Systems' position in the Russian market.
Avianova, based at Moscow Vnukovo Airport and headed by Vladimir Gorbunov as general manager, operates two ex-US Airways Airbus A320 aircraft maintained by Sabena Technics on so far five domestic routes.
The carrier's first flight was performed on August 27, 2009, form Moscow to Sochi.
First to introduce low-cost operations in Russia was Sky Express, in the air since January 29, 2007, followed by the Russian carrier Red Wings Airlines from later the same year.
