Sep 11, 2009 (newstodate): According to Russia's Transport Clearing House, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport handled a total of 80,916 tonnes of cargo during January-July, 2009, international and domestic cargo included.
Second on the list was Moscow Domodedovo Airport with 63,471 tonnes, followed by Moscow Vnukovo Airport with 16,134 tonnes.
Moscow Sheremetyevo was also No 1 in international cargo, with a total of 62,157 tonnes, followed by Moscow Domodedovo with 26,989 tonnes, and St Petersburg Pulkovo with 4,206 tonnes.
Counting domestic cargo alone, Moscow Domodedovo retained its leading positoin with 36,482 tonnes, followed by Moscow Sheremetyevo with 18,759 tonnes and Moscow Vnukovo with 14,437 tonnes.
Compared to the same period in 2008 and including both international and domestic volumes, Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport saw its volumes down by 19.3 percent, Moscow Domodedovo Airport was down 23.2 percent, while Moscow Vnukovo Airport was alone in reporting positive growth by 3.5 percent.
St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport's total volumes were down 29.5 percent, y-o-y, during the period, domestic and international cargo included.
