Sep 29, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's Irkutsk Airport is now seeking to fill the void in its route network left since December last year by the bankruptcy of Dalavia, part of the now-defunct airline alliance AiRUnion.
Passenger volumes carried by Dalavia from Irkutsk to destinations including Mineralnye Vody, Krasnodar, Samara and Sochi were so high that the routes need a new airline to step in.
The carrier Kavminvodyavia is involved in the plans and may dedicate TU-204 and TU-154 aircraft to the purpose.
