Sep 23, 2009 (newstodate): Norwegian salmon is a welcome belly-hold or main-deck passenger on many airlines.
Among these is also Finland's Finnair that lifts about 100 tonnes per week on its passenger flights to Japan.
The fresh salmon shipments are trucked from Norwegian production sites to the carrier's hub at Helsinki Vantaa.
Finnair is the only airline in northern Europe with routes to all three of Japan's most important cities - Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, and the carrier expects to see its salmon volumes rising further.
