Sep 30, 2009 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Polet is now in the air with its IL-96-400T freighter from Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
Polet is the first carrier to operate the new Russian freighter, with deliveries of a total of six aircraft originally ordered by Aeroflot-Cargo that later withdrew its decision.
The aircraft will be used on Polet's international routes as well as on domestic flights such as the Moscow-Yakutsk route that became the first to see the introduction of the new freighter.
The new aircraft can accommodate up to 34 PMC pallets in a 25 upper deck and 9 lower deck configuration.
