Sep 08, 2009 (newstodate): Lithuanian charter airline and ACMI provider Aurela Airlines has put plans for more aircraft in 2009 on the shelf for now.
-We did have plans for the acquisition of a Boeing 767 aircraft in 2009, but given the current situation and the outlook for the remainder of 2009 we have shelved the plans till later, says Antanas Simutis, Aurela Airlines charter sales manager.
-Our current fleet comprises two Boeing 757-200, two Boeing 737-30 and two Hawker aircraft, and while revenues are indeed low these days we still prefer to keep the aircraft flying even if they do not make much money, rather than grounding them. Also the hope is of course to ensure the sustained employment of our total of 168 staff, says Mr Simutis.
