Sep 16, 2009 (newstodate): Yesterday, September 15, saw the resumption of flights by Korean Air Cargo from Sweden's Luleaa Kallax Airport.
The flight has been suspended during the summer season as the salmon breeding was affected by low temperatures this spring, leading to slow growth of the fish in the northern Norwegian fish farms.
The freighter service is targeting the Norwegian salmon producers in the northern production sites, but the aim is also to attract other export shipments from shippers in the northern parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland. So far, however, the service has seen little success with shipments other than fresh salmon.
The weekly Boeing 747-400F operation since the start of this year calls at Kallax Luleaa Airport on its route from Frankfurt to Inchon, Korea.
