Sep 02, 2009 (newstodate): Kazaeronavigatsia has now commissioned a new ATM system to manage air traffic flows at Kazkahstan's Aktobe Area Control Center and three remote towers in Kazakhstan.
The SkyLine automated air traffic management system has been supplied and implemented by Lockheed Martin, and the system was site-accepted earlier this year and went fully operational by the end of June, 2009.
The new system is part of the country's efforts to upgrade its entire ATM infrastructure to world levels.
At Aktobe Airport, the system provides en-route and approach control, also providing tower control at Aktobe and the airfields at Uralsk, Atyrau, and Aktau.
Apart from the facilities now fully implemented at Aktobe Airport, Lockheed Martin has also been contracted implement its Omnyx air sovereignty system at the Astana area control center providing air surveillance across the country.
