Sep 14, 2009 (newstodate): While Kaliningrad, the Russian enclave by the Baltic Sea, has lost its home carrier, KD Avia, it will now get its first direct scheduled connection to Ukraine.
Effective from October 9, 2009, the Ukrainean LCC Wind Rose Aviation plans to launch operations between Kiev and Kaliningrad, starting out with three weekly flights using Embraer 195 aircraft.
Wind Rose started out from 2003 as a charter airline, but launched scheduled services from late 2008, now serving destinations including Moscow, Astana, Tashkent, Ashgabat from Kiev.
