Sep 17, 2009 (newstodate): Since 2000, Uzebekistan Airways has been an important client for its German GSSA, Aircargonet International, at Frankfurt.
The carrier currently operates three weekly flights between Tashkent and Frankfurt, using Boeing 767 aircraft on the route.
-Uzbekistan Airways was one of the very first CIS carries to operate western-built aircraft like three Airbus A310, five Boeing 767 and six Boeing 757 to Frankfurt and other places in Europe like London, Paris, Rome and Milan, says Klaus Lederer, Aircargonet International CEO.
-Via Tashkent the carrier transfers its cargo to and from a wide range of destinations in Central Asia, and all kinds of cargo are accepted, excepting weapons and munitions.
-All major European industrial companies, car sellers etc have sales offices in Uzbekistan, so you will find especially cars, car parts, Siemens equipment, computers, machinery and like products on the carrier's flights out of Europe.
-The traffic is, however, heavily imbalanced on the route between Uzbekistan and Europe. The outbound cargo load factor from Frankfurt to Tashkent is about 85-90 percent, while inbound Frankfurt you will see only small amounts of cargo like vegetables, fruits, and textiles from China via Tashkent, says Mr Lederer.
Uzbekistan Airways also operates four IL-76 freighters that are in business to serve the German Army based at Termez/Uzbekistan, close to the border of Afghanistan.
In the airline's fleet are also two Airbus A310-600F freighters leased from Korean Air Cargo and three Avro RJ85, and the carrier was the first in the CIS to place orders for two Boeing 787 aircraft.
