Sep 07, 2009 (newstodate): By pure coincidence, or so it should be, three airlines have now announced almost identical intentions to raise air cargo rates from this autumn.
First out was Lufthansa Cargo in a letter to the freight forwarding industry, referring to the present state of the air cargo industry, needs to support the logistics industry and demands for a rate to cover costs, unlike the present state of affairs.
Lufthansa Cargo will thus raise rates by up to 25 percent on an average from within a few weeks.
Second to follow was KLM/Air France that will also increase its cargo rates by 25 to 30 percent from October, citing the same causes.
And now Delta Air Lines has similarly announced intentions to increase its rates by up to 30 percent in some markets.
The three airlines have of course hardly spoken to each other beforehand. That would be illegal, of course.
