Sep 04, 2009 (newstodate): The coming new US airline to offer Transatlantic flights to Europe, Baltia Air Lines is planning for a very cautious and phased entry into the market.
Starting out with one Boeing 747 Classic the carrier will initially offer one weekly flight from New York to St Petersburg, Russia, going up to three weekly flights in month 2, and increasing to five weekly flights from month 3.
Plans are next to add a second Boeing 747 from month 4 and introducing flights from New York to Minsk, Kiev and Riga thereafter while keeping the five weekly rotations between New York and St Petersburg.
In the longer perspective the ambitious plans are to increasing the fleet to five aircraft after two years, source say.
The market, however, still have to wait to see when it is actually "month 1" as the carrier has been some 20 years in the making..
