Sep 28, 2009 (newstodate): Construction works on Nagorno-Karabagh's disputed Stepanakert Airport has now been started.
The local government has called on foreign experts to join in the realization of the airport projects, and the first will reportedly arrive to settle and start work by mid-October.
Armenia's carrier Armavia plans to launch flights from Yerevan to Stepanakert once the airport is commissioned.
Stepanakert Airport, in the disputed Nagorno-Karabagh region under de-facto Armenian control since the war with Azerbaijan in the 90ies, has been inoperative ever since, but plans are to reopen it already by 2010.
