Aug 11, 2009 (newstodate): Rosavia, poised to become Russia's new mega-airline to compete with Aeroflot for a dominant position, may have lost some of its steam before launch already.
Moscow City's government has reportedly decided to keep its airline, Atlant-Soyuz outside Rosavia for period at least, quoting needs for consolidating the airline's debts before a final decision to join Rosavia.
The decision may deal a blow the the whole business idea of Rosavia that was designed from the start to be centered upon Atlant-Soyyz and augmented by the inclusion of a number of airlines that were formerly part of the now-defunct AiRUnion.
Besides Atlant-Soyuz, airlines to be merged into Rosavia are Rossiya, Kavminvodyavia, Orenburg Airlines, Saratov Airlines, Sakhalin Airways, Vladivostok Airlines, Dalavia, KrasAir, Domodedovo Airlines and Samara.
