Aug 24, 2009 (newstodate): The signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the presidents of China and Serbia has raised Serb hopes for a resumption of direct air services between the two countries.
The document now signed during the ongoing state visit by the Serb president to China includes hopes for more tourist and business cooperation, and on the table are plans for massive Chinese investments in Serbia as well as participation in large infrastructure projects, all generating demand for future air services.
Until 2000, the Serb carrier JAT still operated direct flights between Belgrade and Beijing, and hopes in Serbia are that Air China may launch flights to Belgrade from next summer already.
