Aug 19, 2009 (newstodate): The planned privatisation of the Czech carrier CSA has been hit by the effects from the current global aviation crisis.
Air France/KLM has announced their decision to pull out from the tender process ahead of the final date for handing in committing offers, September 15, 2009.
-The current economic environment has significantly impacted the airline business. Under such circumstances, Air France-KLM believes that CSA might focus on developing and implementing a stand-alone recovery plan aimed at restoring its profitability, says Air France/KLM in a release.
Instead, the company offers to support CSA in its future striving for development and business partnership.
That leaves the partly Icelandic-owned Travel Service alone in the final phase of the tender - unless CSA decides to call the whole affair off.
Bidders for 91.5 percent of the stake in CSA originally included Aeroflot that later withdrew from the process, as well as Air France/KLM, a Czech consortium including the partly Icelandic-owned Travel Services, and Odien AV III AS, a regional investment company.
